Career Descriptions

Journeyman RV Technician

As a Journeyman RV technician, your primary responsibility is to diagnose, repair, and maintain recreational vehicles, trailers, and motor homes. You will be expected to have a strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems commonly found in RVs.

Your job duties in this RV career may include but are not limited to:

  • Performing inspections and preventative maintenance on RVs, including brake and tire inspections, fluid checks, and electrical system tests.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing problems with RVs, including engine repairs, air conditioning repairs, and plumbing repairs.
  • Installing and repairing RV appliances, such as refrigerators, stoves, ovens, and microwaves.
  • Repairing and replacing RV roofs, windows, and other exterior components.
  • Performing bodywork and painting RVs to repair or improve the appearance of the vehicle.
  • Advising customers on how to properly maintain and care for their RVs.
  • Ordering parts and maintaining inventory of RV parts and supplies.
  • Completing required paperwork, such as work orders and service records, accurately and in a timely manner.

To excel in this RV career, you should have excellent communication skills, be detail-oriented, and have a strong work ethic. You should also have a willingness to work in a variety of weather conditions and be able to work independently or as part of a team.

In addition to your technical skills, you may also be responsible for training and mentoring junior technicians, so the ability to teach and guide others is also important. Overall, as a journeyman RV technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring that customers can enjoy their RVs safely and comfortably, and that the vehicles are maintained to the highest standards.

Apprentice RV Technician

As an apprentice RV technician, your primary responsibility is to assist experienced RV technicians in the repair and maintenance of recreational vehicles. You will be responsible for learning the skills and techniques
necessary to diagnose and repair various systems and components of an RV.

Your job duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Assisting experienced RV technicians in the repair and maintenance of RVs.
  • Learning how to diagnose and repair electrical, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems.
  • Learning how to troubleshoot and repair mechanical components such as engines, transmissions, and brakes.
  • Assisting with the installation and repair of appliances such as refrigerators, stoves, and microwaves.
  • Learning how to perform regular maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and inspections.
  • Following safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Participating in training and continuing education programs to develop and improve your skills.

To excel in this role, you should have a willingness to learn and follow directions, be physically fit, and have a positive attitude. You should be comfortable using hand and power tools, and be able to follow safety guidelines and procedures. You should also be able to work independently and as part of a team.

As an apprentice RV technician, you play a critical role in ensuring that recreational vehicles are repaired and maintained to the highest standards. Your work will be closely supervised by experienced technicians,
and you will have the opportunity to learn a variety of skills and techniques related to RV repair and maintenance. A commitment to quality work and a dedication to learning are essential to success in this role.

Service Advisor

As a service advisor, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and support to clients who require maintenance or repairs on their RVs. You will work closely with technicians to ensure that customer needs are met and that their RVs are serviced according to manufacturer specifications.

Your job duties in this RV career may include but are not limited to:

  • Greeting customers and answering their questions about services and repairs.
  • Scheduling mobile service calls, booking in-shop service and repair.
  • Familiar with IDEAL computer Systems or other deal management software.
  • Creating work orders, submitting warranty requests, following up with customers.
  • Upsell customer on value-based products.
  • Highly organized.
  • Creating work orders and estimates for RV repairs and maintenance, including parts quotes.
  • Communicating with technicians to ensure that they have the necessary information to diagnose and repair RVs.
  • Explaining repair recommendations and options to customers, and providing guidance on preventive maintenance.
  • Scheduling service appointments and following up with customers to ensure that they are satisfied with their service experience.
  • Maintaining accurate records of customer interactions and service history.
  • Providing support to technicians by ordering parts and coordinating repairs.
  • Staying up-to-date on manufacturer service bulletins, recalls, and other relevant information.

To excel in this role, you should have excellent communication skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. You should be comfortable using computer systems and software to manage customer information and repair orders. You should also have a solid understanding of RV systems and terminology, and be able to effectively explain technical concepts to customers.

As a service advisor, you will be the primary point of contact for customers seeking service and repairs, and as such, you will play a critical role in ensuring that their needs are met and that they have a positive service experience. You will work closely with technicians to ensure that repairs are completed on time and to the highest standards, and you will be responsible for maintaining customer satisfaction and loyalty.

RV Detailer

As an RV detailer, your primary responsibility is to ensure that recreational vehicles, trailers, and motor homes are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards. You will be responsible for detailing both the interior and exterior of the RV to ensure that it looks and smells clean and fresh.

Your job duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Washing and waxing the exterior of the RV, including the roof, windows, and tires.
  • Cleaning and conditioning the RV’s interior, including the floors, walls, and furniture.
  • Polishing and buffing the RV’s exterior surfaces to remove scratches and restore shine.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the RV’s plumbing systems, including the toilets and holding tanks.
  • Inspecting the RV for damage or wear and tear, and reporting any issues to the appropriate department.
  • Applying protective coatings to the RV’s surfaces to prevent damage from sun, rain, and other environmental factors.
  • Maintaining equipment and supplies, including cleaning and organizing the detail shop.
  • Interacting with customers to ensure that their needs are met and that they are satisfied with the service provided.

You should be comfortable using cleaning equipment and chemicals, and be able to follow safety guidelines and procedures. You should also be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be comfortable working in a variety of weather conditions.

As an RV detailer, you play a critical role in ensuring that customers can enjoy their RVs safely and comfortably, and that the vehicles are maintained to the highest standards. Your work will be highly visible, as the cleanliness and appearance of the RV will be the first thing that customers notice when they pick up their vehicle. A commitment to providing exceptional customer service and a dedication to quality work are essential to success in this role.

Administrative Assistant

As an administrative assistant, your primary responsibility is to provide support to executives, managers, and other professionals in an office setting. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including clerical and administrative duties, scheduling appointments, and organizing paperwork and documents.

Your job duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Answering and directing phone calls, taking messages, and responding to inquiries from clients, customers, and colleagues.
  • Greeting visitors and directing them to the appropriate person or department.
  • Drafting and proofreading correspondence, reports, and other documents.
  • Organizing and maintaining electronic and paper files and records.
  • Ordering office supplies and equipment and maintaining inventory.
  • Managing travel arrangements and expense reports.
  • Providing support for other administrative tasks, as needed.
  • Update and maintain office policies and procedures.
  • Update and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
  • Highly organized.

As an administrative assistant, you play a critical role in ensuring that the office runs smoothly and efficiently. You will work closely with executives, managers, and other professionals to ensure that their needs are met and that they have the support they require to perform their jobs effectively. Your work will be highly visible, as you will be the first point of contact for many people who interact with the office, and you will play an important role in creating a positive image for the organization.

General Labourer

As a general labourer, your primary responsibility is to perform a variety of day-to-day tasks to assist an RV and automobile service shop. Your work may involve physical labor and may require the use of tools and equipment.

Your job duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (standing for long periods of time, lifting heavy loads of up to 40 pounds etc.).
  • Ability to safely drive and maneuver multiple combinations of a truck and trailer (flat bed or holiday trailer) or forklift and trailer.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
    Familiarity with power tools and machinery is a plus.
  • Communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safety rules.
  • Clean up worksites from hazardous or obsolete material.
  • Assist technicians, detailers or others on-site.
  • Use power tools and machinery (ie. Forklifts) when needed.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labour tasks.
  • Help with setting up and transferring temporary structures (ie. Ladders, scaffolding)
  • Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions.
